Welcome to Harbertonford Community Shop and Post Office
After years of dedication, determination and the support of over 200 local shareholders, our village shop proudly became a community benefit company in July 2023. What was once uncertain is now a thriving, community-owned space at the heart of village life.
Today, our shop and post office are run by a passionate committee, loyal staff and a team of over 20 wonderful volunteers. Together, we provide everyday essentials, postal services and dry cleaning — and we continue to grow with the needs of our community. With future plans for a cosy café space, we hope to create even more opportunities for neighbours, visitors and friends to connect.
This is your shop — built by the community, for the community. Every purchase helps keep it strong, sustainable and here for generations to come.
Run by the Community, Open for the Community
Our community shop is open seven days a week and is proudly run by a combination of loyal staff and dedicated local volunteers. Together, they create the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that makes our shop such an important part of village life. Since becoming community-owned, we’ve continued to expand and refine our range to better reflect the needs of our customers.
We’re very well stocked with everyday essentials and much more besides, and we’re always looking at ways to improve what we offer. You’ll find a suggestion box in the shop, so if there’s something you’d like us to stock, please let us know — this is your shop, after all. What you see below is just a small snapshot of what’s available. There’s plenty more waiting on the shelves, so do pop in and take a look.
